Public Transportation
To embark on this picturesque journey, I boarded a bus from the mesmerizing city of Venice. I took the ATVO bus to the captivating destination of Cortina Ampezzo. You can check the schedule here and book your ticket online.
Moreover, you have the option to take the bus from the center of Venice or Venice Marco Polo Airport to reach Lago di Braies. The one-way ticket to Cortina Ampezzo costs 14 €. I recommend booking an early schedule, around 08:15, with the ATVO Bus, as it offers a more budget-friendly option compared to the Cortina Express, which costs approximately 25 €.
Upon my arrival at around 10:30 in Cortina Ampezzo, I found myself with a delightful three-hour window before catching the bus to Dobiacco. At the bus station, I secured my ticket to Toblach / Dobiacco at a reasonable cost of 5€. With time to spare, I made an impromptu decision to explore the enchanting Ski Station Cortina Ampezzo.
After bidding farewell to the charming Cortina Ampezzo, I hopped on the bus that would lead me to Dobbiaco. The scenic journey took me through picturesque landscapes, and soon enough, I arrived at my destination. Welcomed by the quaint charm of Dobbiaco, I couldn’t wait to explore the surrounding natural wonders.
My first stop was Lago Di Landro, a captivating gem nestled amidst majestic mountains. A short distance away from the city center of Dobbiaco, close to a charming church, I boarded bus 442, eagerly heading to the idyllic Pragsee Wildersee, also known as Lago Di Braies. Purchasing the bus ticket in cash was a breeze, and it cost me 12 € for a round trip.
As the bus meandered through the scenic route, anticipation grew within me, knowing that I was about to set foot in one of the most captivating destinations in Italy. The lush greenery and majestic mountains formed a magnificent backdrop, foreshadowing the beauty that awaited at Lago Di Braies.
